How bad is it? Last week as I was flipping through the late night talk shows I watched as one famous late night talk show host did nothing his whole, entire monologue but make Charlie Sheen jokes.
I have to admit, as a comedian, the temptation to jump on this Charlie Sheen bandwagon was almost overwhelming! Actually, I gave into it a little bit myself when I made up a game called, "Which Charlie Said It?" On my Twitter I would post a quote & asked people to respond which Charlie said it: Charlie Sheen or Charles Manson.
Then something crazy happened to me. As I was preparing my next Charlie Sheen quote I had a stunning revelation: God's not entertained with any of this. Charlie Sheen is LOSING from God's perspective & it's not funny.
Not everyone will agree with me - or God for that matter. Some seem to think that all of this is some elaborate hoax, & that Charlie Sheen isn't as whacked out as we think. All the free publicity he's getting from the media, paid television interviews, and as some even report that he's even getting paid to tweet on Twitter.
I only hope that all of that is true, but I'm just not seeing the "brilliance" in all of this. He WAS the highest paid actor in the history of television. Now his television career has gone down the toilet, along with his movie career. How's Charlie going to bounce back from this? What acting/directing/producing professional is going to seriously want to work with him after this media frenzy dies down? Where can Charlie possibly go from here?
The answer is: Nowhere. He's losing. The sad thing is we spend hours in front of our laptops, PC's, tablets, smartphones, & televisions just to entertain ourselves with all things "Sheen" as this man's life crashes & burns.
It's really not funny, America. We have to stop being losers.
